red star The Macaroon Ceilidh Band, based in Kendal, Cumbria, is the perfect party band for your wedding, civil partnership, birthday, anniversary, family gathering, community event and any other celebration.

The Macaroon Ceilidh BandThe three-piece band consists of Pete French on piano, Philippa Bull on fiddle and Colin Blakey on whistles, flute, harmonica and gaita (Galician bagpipes).

Between us we have many years' experience of playing for dancing.

A Macaroon wedding processionThe music is predominantly Scottish, Cumbrian, Irish and Old-Timey, with a distinct Shetland feel - flying melodies underpinned by bouncy rhythmic piano played in the style of the great Violet Tulloch. Traditional, quirky, and full of life - very dancy indeed…

The Macaroon Ceilidh BandThe Macaroons are joined by an expert dance caller for all their ceilidh gigs, so both beginners and experienced dancers can enjoy a range of set dances from around the world.

We work with some of Cumbria's finest callers including Fiona Rigg, Martyn Harvey, Chris Bland, Bill Lloyd, Les Ord, Sue Nicholls and Dan Mason.

The Macaroon Ceilidh Band is also available for many other kinds of events eg listening concerts, processions, galas, fairs and festivals - throughout Cumbria and beyond.

We have public liability insurance and all our electrical equipment is PAT safety-tested.
